5 reasons managing directors need to invest in solar for business now

Solar panels can offer your business a chance to cut its electricity bills and to even make money when selling the unused power that you generate back to the grid, but should you invest?

Many arguments about Solar PV systems go a little bit like this…

You can save hundreds of pounds a year, you can help the environment AND the government will reward your green credentials by paying YOU for the electricity that you generate. Whilst there is an upfront cost, over the long term you can secure a return on investment, exactly what everyone wants. So what’s there to think about?

Exactly, what is there to think about?

If you’re still uncertain, here are 5 reasons Managing Directors need to invest in solar for their business now:

1. Protection from rising energy prices

For the past few years, energy prices have risen tremendously and they are still set to rise even further, putting more pressure on businesses and their energy consumption.

By choosing to invest in your Solar PV system now, you’ll be ahead of the game as the feed in tariff rates are lowering – the rates are currently calculated every three months and the rate you join at, is the rate that you will receive for 20 years.

The sooner you invest, the sooner you’ll be making a return on investment.

2. Eliminate or reduce your electric bills

As you will know, your buildings electricity costs make up a substantial portion of your overall annual budget, and that money could make such a difference to your company if you had the ability to reallocate it.

By installing a Solar PV system, you will be generating your own power for at least 25 years or, if you’re not producing enough energy to cover everything that you consume, your bills will still be drastically smaller, which saves you money either way.

3. Enhance your brand

Sustainability and CSR are almost becoming as important as the product that you sell, with most consumers becoming increasingly aware of ethics and taking issue with companies that aren’t doing things the ‘right’ way. So don’t become one of those.

It has been said that businesses who have earnt then ‘green credentials’ have found it as a powerful driver of consumer purchasing decisions creating improved business results.

And just like your consumers, it can improve your employee morale too, when people feel good about where they work, they’re a lot more engaged.

4. Protect the environment

Whilst this is an obvious reason, it’s a large one. Did you know that buildings are responsible for almost 35% of all carbon emissions?

Going solar can decrease these high percentages significantly, a typical solar PV system is the rough equivalent of planting over 100 trees each year. Now think about how much good that would do for the environment, so show your commitment to sustainability.

5. It isn’t an expense, it’s an investment

The returns you can gain from investing in a Solar PV system can rival more traditional investments such as stocks or bonds. Maybe that will help you to understand how valuable these systems really can be for your business; it’s an investment in your future.
