Three businesses who benefitted from installing commercial solar panels

businesses with installed commercial solar panelsInstalling commercial solar panels has many benefits, from cutting your electricity bills, to enhancing your green credentials and, therefore, your brand. But these are benefits that you probably already know and have been told time and time again… You shouldn’t have to rely on our words alone, so keep reading and find out for yourself how going solar could really help you and your business.

In this blog, here are three examples of businesses who have benefitted from installing commercial solar panels:

West Midlands Golf Club

West Midlands Golf Club decided to look into renewable energy as a way to offset the energy costs associated with running the club – which aside from the 18-hole golf course, hosts various events, conferences and weddings throughout the year.

Looking for a solution to their problem, they found Bowler Energy.

We installed a 400 panel, 100kW ground-mounted solar PV system that had a targeted annual financial benefit of £19, 645. Impressively the system exceeded its targets and is returning £25,414 annually – 16%. The owners of the golf club were so pleased with the whole project that we returned to another golf course they own, Widney Manor Golf Club, to install a 10kW system in January 2015.

The Owners said, “I’m seeing cost reduction already from the savings we are making by not buying electricity in. We are looking forward to enjoying the continuing financial benefits over years to come.”

Peak Waste

Peak Waste, based in Ashbourne, first started to consider Solar PV because they like the idea of “recycling” the sun’s energy and felt that it would enhance their green credentials and would, therefore, be a good investment.

In August 2013, we installed a 100kW system for Peak Waste that was forecast to produce an annual financial benefit of £15,677 – but after being installed for just over two years, the system is producing more than forecast, generating £933 over and above the targets every year the installation has been in.

The team at Peak Waste said: “The support has been fantastic. If we were back at the start of the process, we would 100% definitely have used Bowler Energy again.”

Fenton’s Rink

Fenton’s Rink is England’s only dedicated ice curling rink – and they had a problem.

Due to having to keep their ice at a specific temperature, their electricity costs were extremely high, and they needed a way to decrease their costs. Their answer was to go Solar.

In 2012, we installed a 50kW roof-mounted solar PV system that comprises of 200 panels that were estimated to produce 46,000kW of electricity annually. The system is actually performing at 17.94% above target, which means that Fenton’s Rink will have a payback period of just over seven years.

12 months after installing the system at Fenton’s rink, we were informed that there had been a faulty batch of inverters, our client had this to say:

“I received a parcel that contained three brand new inverters, at no cost to me. This was forward thinking, and I’m pleased that Bowler Energy has provided me with this great level of service as you don’t know there is a problem with an inverter until it’s too late.”
